Saltaire Inspired
Identity Saltaire Inspired create and organise inspiring arts and community events in and around the UNESCO World Heritage village of Saltaire, West Yorkshire. Events to date include the annual Saltaire Arts Trail and the Saltaire Living Advent Calendar.
Saltaire is a Victorian Mill town built between 1853 and 1876 by the mill owner and philanthropist Sir Titus Salt to house his vast workforce. Today the village skyline is still dominated by the mill and its towering chimney which the identity design draws reference to.
Colour inspiration for the design was easily found in the soot tarnished, golden Yorkshire stone used to build the now Grade II listed Victorian mill houses of Saltaire.
